The Rebus Community has allowed me to accomplish far more than I could have on my own, even with institutional support. It has built bridges between my university and others, providing me with the chance to collaborate with professors and students from all over the country. The tireless and generous project managers have made my life so much easier — it has been a true joy to work with Rebus.

I applaud The Rebus Foundation and its mission in developing a collaborative model for producing and scaling high quality, open educational resources (specifically textbooks). Rebus’ attention and groundbreaking work in this area has already assisted with textbook affordability issues internationally and saved students millions of dollars, removing barriers from their educational goals. Rebus’ contributions creates more educational access and equity for students and gives them more opportunities to take more classes, be more successful, and complete their educational goals faster.

The people at Rebus have shown deep dedication to the importance of OER, and to working collaboratively with us on our project. In addition, they have been instrumental in the development of a larger community of people working on various OER projects, which allows for many hands to help with various tasks on each project, such as providing advice, doing copyediting, providing peer reviews, and more. Creating and supporting such a community is crucial to the sustainability of OER, I believe; it is how such resources can be revised and re-shared back to a community for further re-use, revision, and re-sharing. I am thrilled Rebus has taken a lead in fostering this kind of community.
